PRAYER THEME FOR NOVEMBER 2017: OUR SECURE CENTRE

"And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in him. May your roots go deep down into the soil of God's marvellous love:....". Ephesians ch.3 verse 17 (18,19).

"Come Spirit, on us breathe, with life and strength anew; find in us love, and hope, and trust, and lift us up to you." CH4 721 verse 6.

Loving Father,

May we by your grace have the will to set aside times to be with you, to be still, to bring our whole lives to you so we are enabled to face each day confidently; not dividing life into things we can do by ourselves and things that require your help. In the joy of your presence may we see time spent in prayer as a gift from you, time to find your plans for us, trusting in you loving God oursecure centre, our resource of continuing help, comfort and companionship.

Forgive us dear Lord when we fail to see or seek opportunities to shine out for you in loving and giving to others; for failing to forgive someone who has hurt us. And secure in your unconditional love we ask for your help to see our own shortcomings, so that in seeking your forgivenss we may experience your healing, your peace. Breathe into us your strength, so that day by day we may find life and joy in your service; feel part of your purpose, loving and sharing, helping others in your most holy name.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Thank you that by your grace we need not doubt ourselves  and our wn worth: that you dear Lord can do nothing else but love us; that we do not need to earn your love and nothing in us can extingish your love. In you we trust, as we let your love get hold of us.

May we walk though everyday in the knowledge that much of the time if we are patient and are paying attention we will see your restoring love taking us through difficutlies; see people keep loving us and through prayer and a sense of your presence, walking in faith, we will find a way through. And living in your love may we then go out and try to see the treasures God sees in others and share our confidence in you with everyone we encounter.

In the name of Jesus we pray.

Amen

PRAYER THEME MAY 2016: RESTING PRAYER, RECEIVING AND RESPONDING

Pray we now Lord Holy Spirit

on our lives descend in might

let your flame burn bright within us

fire our hearts and clear our sight

till consumed with your compassion

we too set the world alight.  CH4 588 verse 5

Loving Lord God

Forgive us for the humdrum reasons we produce for not coming into your presence, our pride and resistance to open ourselves to you. We pray for your healing grace working in us to overcome our desires to daily push ahead through each day instead of pausing to share with you and hear you and find our thinking illuminated by the kight of your love.

Teach us how to rest in your presence, depending on the Holy Spirit to adjust and focus our prayers till we become attuned to your will for us. And as we depend on you to give us purpose and direction may we be thankful that when we have a shared experience to resolve, that in your time, you will in your wisdom and mercy show us the way ahead.

We pray that we will be filled with the fire of your love to be your disciples, telling out our knowledge that you loving God are  always there, always listening and always patient and loving.

In Jesus' name we pray.

PRAYER FOR JANUARY 2016 : AWARENESS OF  GOD'S PRESENCE

PRAYER FOR OCTOBER: BEGINNING AFRESH EVERY DAY

"Great is his faithfulness; his loving kindness begins afresh every day" Lamentations 3:23

Dear Loving God,

Thank you that in  a world where competition prevails there is no need for us to work hard for your love.

We come into your presence joyfully and confidently as in your loving kindness you offer us a fresh start every morning.

As we open our hearts and minds to you, help us to struggle through the thoughts of the busyness of each new day, so that we do not look at the difficulties and demands the day brings, rather that we make you our loving home, our focal point, a place of quiet and of inspiration.

We pray for your direction so that we use our energy in a focused, not scattered, way, so we can break old habits and wake up to new possibilitie.

And we look to you for our healing Lord; to help us shake off all negative feelings which encroach upon us, so that each and every morning starts, we feel thankful, enriched and encircled by your love.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

PRAYER THEME FOR SEPTEMBER 2015: A TOUCHING PLACE

Ephesians 4:1-4 [NRSV]  Unity in the Body of Christ

4 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling,…

      ****

CH4 724   Christ’s is the world [a touching place]

Christ’s is the world in which we move

Christ’s are the folk we’re summoned to love

Christ’s is the voice which calls us to care

and Christ is the one who meets us here.

To the lost Christ shows his face

To the unloved he gives his embrace

To those who cry in pain and disgrace

Christ makes with his friends - a touching place.

John L Bell and Graham Maule

        ****

Loving Lord Jesus

We rejoice in You, our touching place where we find acceptance and love.

We pray for forgiveness when we have caused pain by ignoring the chances You offer to befriend someone in need or when we fail to forgive someone we feel has hurt us.

And we come to You with our hurt and pain, in the knowledge that our difficulties and disappointments are part of a journey made easier by sharing them with You, finding strength in Your company; in the comfort of friends sitting in silence.

May we make a clear commitment to befriend others, working together in Your name. As we try to encourage others – people who are afraid or weak or find life difficult through depression, hurt or being treated as outcast by society - help us dear Lord to be patient with everyone, honouring one another in positive relationships.

We may feel vulnerable as we face the challenge of change but as we calmly bring matters to You and leave them in Your capable hands, may our lives and the lives of others blossom for You.

In Jesus name we pray.

Amen

AUGUST 2015: THANKSGIVING AND PRAISE FOR GOD'S GIFT OF EACH NEW DAY

"You have let me experience the joys of life and the exquisite pleasure of your own eternal presence"   Psalm 16:11

Dear Loving Lord God,

We give thanks for your marvellous timing: that just when we need you, you are there, bringing us the greatest encouragement to be still and follow your leading.

We praise you as on the gift of a lovely day we take off our shoes and walk on the sand with Jesus. We invite him in and in unspoken prayers we allow thoughts of family, friends and neighbours to flow, sharing each thing we do or think with HIm. Our thoughts may be of those we know who may be frightened, anxious or lonely; of friends needing a little courage to face problems or of the joy of hearing children's laughter and chatter along the beach.

As we continue to sense your presence in theset times with you whether on the beach, in the fields or woods, or at home, may we acknowledge the faith that says you are sharing this inner peace and stillness.

Loving Lord, we give thanks for the opportunities you give; your leading of us every day and we offer you our love as you encourage us to share our lives with you.

In Jesus name we pray,

Amen

JULY 2015: CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

When I consider your heavens, the work of your hands,
the moon and the stars, that you have made:

what are human beings that you are mindful of them,
children of the earth that you care for them?
For you have created us a little lower than the angels,
and crowned us with glory and honour.     Psalm 8:3-5

Loving Heavenly Father,

We bing to you our worship and praise for your love which cherishes each one of us.

We pray for our children and young people enjoying summer days, that they will feel secure, valued and understood.

For some young people adventures and oppotunities are possible. We pray for them to come to know life and love with you dear Lord, to step out in faith.

Others may be unsure of the next step in their future and we ask for your protection and clarity in their lives.

Loving Lord, hear our prayer fo families stuck in temporary accomodation for lack of a secure home; for children who face fear and danger in their own homes.

May we be actively caring members of society doing all we can to show your love to every child; to listen with an open heart, motivating and encouraging whenever we can.

In Jesus name we pray.

Amen
