On Sunday the pews at Stonehaven South Church were full to capacity with worshippers giving praise to Almighty God and wishing to express their gratitude to Reverend Rosslyn Duncan on this her last Sunday as minister of the linked charge of Stonehaven South and Dunnottar. The introit delivered by the joint choir under the direction of Mr David Sell concentrated the minds and spirits of the congregation on prayerful devotion in the words of the hymn

'Look upon us blessed Lord, take our wondering thoughts and guide us'

The Sacrament of Baptism was celebrated as Callie was welcomed by Rosslyn, in Christ name into the Church of God, a welcome then confirmed by the congregation as they sung the words of blessing from the book of Numbers

'The Lord bless you and keep you ......

The scripture reading from the book of Acts spoke of the gift of the Holy Spirit which was poured out upon the Gentiles, and Rosslyn reminded us of how the Holy Spirit can use each of us to achieve great things for the Kingdom of God. The gospel reading pointed us to Jesus' words to His disciples to continue to share that Love which they had experienced in the presence of their Saviour ...a love emanating from the Father and the Son.

Rosslyn shared with us her reflection on her call to ministry ... a call she first felt deep within her heart, which after having been affirmed by others was subsequently confirmed by the Church when eleven years ago she was ordained as a minister of the Word and Sacraments.  She spoke of how her call to demit her ministry here in Stonehaven had followed a similar pattern, personal conviction, followed by affirmation from those around culminating in the official acceptance of the Church by Presbytery. Looking back on her ministry she focused on three particular sentiments Trust, Love and Commitment. We have witnessed these three pillars having been supremely present in Rosslyn ministry over these past years and they are now her challenge and her prayer to the congregation as she takes leave of us ...to continue our trust in God, our love of our Saviour and each other and our continued commitment to serve God and the people here in Stonehaven.

Worship concluded in the singing of Charles Wesley's beautiful hymn 'Love Divine All Loves Excelling'.
